How to play
Emotion Shift is for 3–12 players. With 3–5 participants everyone performs exactly twice; with 6–12 everyone performs once, and the circular order never repeats a performer before completing a full pass.
Each round receives one fresh neutral situation from 72 original cards across six categories and exactly two distinct emotions from 24 profiles. Situations and emotions are scheduled independently, never repeat within the match, and each pair comes from different families.
Everyone sees the situation and its category. Before the reveal only the Performer receives the two emotions in order and three acting cues for each; guessers and observers receive no emotion labels, aliases, or hidden identifiers.
Preparation lasts 20 seconds while the Performer silently reads both assignments and plans one continuous scene. After 3 seconds they may start it themselves, and expiry starts the first emotion phase automatically.
For the first fixed 25 seconds the Performer acts out the situation using only emotion one through voice, expression, posture, and tempo, without saying the emotion, an alias, or a revealing word fragment. Player readiness never shortens this timer.
The app then gives a mandatory 3-second switch signal. Without stopping the situation or verbally explaining the change, the Performer visibly rebuilds the delivery from that moment onward.
For the second fixed 25 seconds the same situation continues under emotion two. This timer also always runs in full: there is no ready control, and one player’s early answer never ends the performance for anyone else.
Every guesser privately and immutably submits at most one guess for emotion one and one for emotion two, each up to 40 characters. Other players, the Performer, and observers see no answer text before reveal; reconnecting restores submitted guesses without allowing replacement.
Answers are compared without case: Russian Е and Ё are equivalent, Spanish vowel accents are ignored, but Ñ remains distinct from N. The canonical label and 2–4 predetermined safe aliases are accepted automatically, with no Performer approval.
For each correctly identified slot its guesser receives 100 points. If at least one player identifies emotion one, the Performer receives 50 points, plus another 50 for emotion two; their maximum is 100 per round regardless of player count.
Only the Performer may pass the round or record a foul for directly naming an answer, displaying its text, or giving another explicit clue. A pass or foul zeros the entire round: every guess and both Performer bonuses score 0 even if submitted earlier.
The 20-second reveal shows both emotions, accepted aliases, cues, personal answers, and awards; after 6 seconds the host may open the next round. Play in the same place or use an external audio or video call: play2gether.fun does not request camera or microphone access and does not record the performance.
After 6–12 rounds, the highest score earned in this match wins. Equal highest totals produce a shared victory without a random tie-break; anyone joining after the start remains an observer and cannot answer.
