How to play
Three Signals supports 4–12 players. The server privately shuffles them into two teams whose sizes differ by at most one; each team receives the same number of turns, equal to the larger team’s size.
Guides rotate within each team. Everyone guides at least once, and a member of the smaller team repeats only after its full cycle. Teams alternate, and every turn uses a new target from 60 original cards.
Everyone sees the current target’s category and difficulty, but only the Guide can open the target behind a private curtain. Briefing lasts up to 12 seconds and readiness can be confirmed after 3; the target and accepted variants are absent from every other player’s and observer’s markup.
The first channel is free spoken description for 30 seconds. The Guide may not say the target, a related word form, a translation, a word fragment, its length, or its opening sound. Solving here gives the team 300 points.
Active teammates send guesses as text in the app. An exact target or approved variant is solved by the server immediately; only the Guide may accept a semantically equivalent guess. Authors see receipts for their own guesses, while the Guide receives the current channel’s inbox.
If unsolved, the Guide has up to 12 seconds to submit exactly one clue word. It cannot be the target, a variant, related form, or translation. The team then sees that word and has another 18 seconds; a solve is worth 200 points.
The final channel lasts 20 seconds. The Guide acts out the target without speech, sounds, written symbols, or prepared prop clues while teammates continue submitting guesses. A solve is worth 100 points.
After each channel’s minimum window, the Guide may move on early or finish without a solve. Deadlines make the same transition automatically; the app never invents a clue or guess for a player.
A target awards exactly one result: 300, 200, 100, or 0. It is added once to the team total and to every member’s room score; neither the Guide nor the accepted guesser gets a hidden bonus.
The 12-second reveal shows the target, successful channel, one-word clue, submitted guesses, omissions, and award. The host may continue after 4 seconds. Before reveal, opponents and observers see only teams, category, difficulty, stage, timer, and score; they do not receive the target, one-word clue, or the active team’s guess text.
Spoken description and gestures require players to be together or use an external voice/video call. play2gether.fun neither requests nor records a camera or microphone; game decisions and guesses are recorded only through explicit app actions.
A reconnecting player receives only their authorized current information and accepted receipts. Retrying cannot create another guess, clue, transition, or award; late joiners remain observers until a new game.
After both teams complete the same number of turns, the higher target total wins. Equal totals share the win; the final archive lists every turn and team result without a hidden tie-break.
