How to play
Trail of Pulses supports 4–12 players and lasts exactly one round per participant. The server shuffles the order once, so everyone is Operator exactly once and an Analyst in every other round.
Everyone sees a fresh panel of 6 distinct signals. The server secretly builds a strictly ordered route of 4 different tiles; only the Operator sees the complete route before reveal.
Each round has up to 3 pulses. During the packet stage the Operator has 20 seconds to select and separately confirm one of 3 server-generated packets containing true facts about tile membership, position, order, or adjacency.
There are no free-text clues: the app verifies every fact. If the Operator times out, the server publishes the first valid packet and keeps the round moving.
After each packet every unsolved Analyst has 30 seconds to arrange 4 different tiles in exact order and confirm separately. Only one attempt is accepted from that Analyst during a pulse.
After confirming, an Analyst privately sees only how many tiles occupy the correct positions. A 4-of-4 route locks as solved; otherwise a new attempt opens after the next packet. Reveal starts early when everyone solves and always follows the third pulse.
Solving on pulse one, two, or three awards an Analyst 300, 200, or 100 points respectively. An unsolved or missing route earns 0. The Operator receives the median Analyst score including zeroes; with an even number, the two middle values are averaged.
Other attempts, the number already solved, and the Operator’s available packets stay private until reveal. Spectators see only the panel and published pulses, never receive an action token, and cannot affect play.
Reveal lasts up to 15 seconds and the host may continue after 4. It shows the full route, every packet, attempts by pulse, position matches, missing players, and every award including zero.
Server timers, confirmations, and private roles survive reconnects; retrying a request cannot add another attempt or score twice. After the final round, the highest personal room total leads and tied leaders share the win.
